So, let’s kick off this newsletter business by getting down to basics. 

Design Thinking – what is it all about? 

Design thinking as a term and approach has its roots in the 1960s, emerging from the fields of design and engineering. It’s all about taking a human-centered approach to problem-solving with a high priority on aspects like empathy and experiences. 

It’s also increasingly used within the field of employee experiences including new players like HR – which comes with massive benefits for people experiences, as well as challenges in terms of knowledge and execution.

Among the HR professionals who are focusing on employee experience specifically, only 10% (globally) have worked with it for more than 3 years. Even then, most come from a traditional HR background, where design thinking remains a fairly foreign concept.
